Junior Front End Developer / Designer

We're looking for a Junior Front End Developer to help with some slicing and coding, as well as to manage the ongoing maintenance of our existing clients. The lion's share of the work will be updating websites and assisting the Art Director with various development tasks.

Required skills:

• experience with HTML, XHTML, CSS, and cross-browser layout issues
• knowledge of web standards and ability to produce valid code
• ability to translate PSDs into semantic code
• know your way around photoshop
• some ability to edit vector files
• 1-2 years working in an agency setting or similar
• charm, civility, and basic communication skills
• email & phone etiquette
• attention to detail

It'd be nice if you had these too:

• some knowledge of javascript
• experience with Campaign Monitor
• experience working with jQuery
• experience with third party API's
• ability to customize Wordpress or Tumblr
• experience building mobile websites
• experience with actionscript & flash
• ability to do research and write intelligently
• a sense of humour

Your day-to-day tasks would include:

• manage communications from clients regarding updates and new initiatives
• update and maintain client websites
• slice and code PSDs
• assist the Art Director with various design tasks
• design & modify email templates
• slice and code email templates
• participate in brainstorming, ideation, and development of creative strategy

Attention to detail and artistic sensibility is crucial. We do high-end work, and it takes a lot of love and care to keep it looking good.

This is not an entry position, though we are willing to consider the right candidate who has at least an internship under their belt. Candidates with experience in a similar role will be preferred. We're a small company, so you'll be expected to wear many hats.

Director of Sales (freelance or full time)

Wallop is a digital creative studio located in Vancouver BC. We do websites, video, and creative strategy for the web. Many of our clients are in hospitality, and we continue to target new business in this sector. We're young, and have a stable roster of happy clients in the industry.

We're looking for a sales and business development manager to lead our sales effort and drive company growth. We are willing to bring on a fulltime candidate on a salary plus commission if certain conditions are met.

The conditions are:

1. that you have a proven track record of selling and expanding business in a traditional or digital agency and
2. you are able to provide help on the business development side of things (or)
3. you are well connected in the hospitality sector.

Your day-to-day tasks would include:

• target and identify key accounts
• follow and maintain active leads
• creating and maintain an active list of accounts using Sales Force, Highrise, or similar
• develop a strong and effective sales strategy for the company with measurable objectives
• write, manage, and perform sales presentations as required
• represent the company at industry events and key networking opportunities
• lead the proposal writing and submission process for the company
• develop additional sales collateral and assist with communications

On the business development side:

• identify new business and growth opportunities
• nurture and grow existing client relationships
• develop new strategies and take a lead role in new partnership opportunities
• lead the company's social media and online marketing initiatives
• represent the company at industry events and key networking opportunities

For a freelancer, we are offering a 10-15% commission on all new business on a sliding scale. Previous sales + marketing experience and related education (minimum BA) preferred. Experience in hospitality a huge bonus. It doesn't matter where you live, but candidates in Vancouver are preferred.
