This is who you are:
You work hard, and you love your work. You’re an accomplished designer, and love to learn new skills. You obsess about whitespace and see things in grids. You are a Photoshop and css ninja, and do some dabbling in Flash and After Effects. Among your feeds are sites like News Today, K10K, and FWA.
You work in a large company with big sexy clients, but your tasks are mundane. All the creative decisions are made at the top and filtered through a bureaucracy of project managers and marketing types. You’d like to be more independent, but like the idea of a steady paycheck. You’re an independent and proactive person, and you promptly answer emails and call people back.
This is who we are:
We’re a small design studio in Gastown. Right now, we are all partners in the company with a small army of contractors, but are looking to bring in a new designer or two to help us with our workload.
We all come from large companies, and like to be in control of our own destiny. We’re picky about the clients we serve, and like to choose our projects carefully. We’ve got great clients, and lots of work.
This is what you will do:
This is a small company, so you’ll be expected to wear many hats. While we have project managers, sometimes you will manage projects if we decide the projects warrant that. Or if you decide you’d like to take that on your own accord.
You will design websites, code in semantic HTML and CSS, and build small components in Flash. You will liaison with clients and project stakeholders. You will brainstorm, build concepts, and storyboard. You will seek out and learn new skills and use them on your projects.
The details:
Salary is competitive but commensurate with experience. Medical, dental, and parking provided. Bonuses and profit share a distinct possibility. Go on vacation when projects are on track - we’re not sticklers as long as you hit your deadlines. Sorry, we’ve got PC’s but you can work on a Mac if you like. We’ll buy your books and pay for other expenses. Beer, even.
